Apex Legends is one of the biggest battle royale games out there and the studio behind it has revealed they may have some big plans regarding the game’s world. Respawn has posted a job listing on their site for a brand new game set in the Apex Legends universe, and as of right now only one job is left, a Hard Surface Artist. The description for the job states the following:
We are looking for a talented and experienced Mid-Level 3D Hardsurface Artist to help build a brand new Respawn single-player adventure.
This new single-player title is a developer’s dream playground with the freedom to innovate made possible by the unique universe it inhabits.
Get Ready For “Apex Universe FPS Incubation”
The job listing for a Hard Surface Artist was listed under the heading “Apex Universe FPS Incubation”. Don’t know what that means? Neither do I to be honest, but if the name suggests anything, it’s that the project is still in the incubation stage. This means that there’s probably a good chance the idea behind the FPS hasn’t even been fully thought out yet. It should also be noted that Apex Legends is set in the same universe as the Titanfall franchise. If you didn’t know, both of them are set in the same universe, as Apex Legends takes place 30 years into the future. Will “Apex Universe FPS Incubation” have any larger ties to the Titanfall franchise? It certainly is a possibility, but only time will tell.
One other thing that should be remembered is that this comes a few weeks after EA, Respawn’s publisher, made fun of single-player games, which promptly led to them getting bashed on Twitter. The timing couldn’t have been better.
