AMD announced its Ryzen 7000 series processors yesterday. The announcement was made during AMD’s first live event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ryzen 7000 series will finally put AMD on equal footing with Intel, as AMD was missing a few key features brought to the market by their competition. The new processors, Ryzen 9 7950X, Ryzen 9 7900X, Ryzen 7 7700X, and Ryzen 5 7600X, will feature the new Zen 4 architecture, which brings DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 support to AMD processors. The price for the processors is below:

  • Ryzen 7 7700X: $399
  • Ryzen 5 7600X: $299

Ryzen 5 7600X will have 6 cores and 12 threads, 38 MB cache, and TDP 105 W. On the other hand, Ryzen 7 7700X will have 8 cores and 16 threads, 40 MB cache, and a TDP of 105 W. AMD Ryzen 9 7900X will have 12 CPU cores and 24 threads, 76 MB of cache, and a TDP of 170 W. Finally, the Ryzen 9 7950X model will have 16 cores and 32 threads, 80 MB of cache and a TDP of 170 W.

AMD claims that the new Ryzen series will offer a 13% increase in IPC performance and up to a 29% increase in single-core performance. AMD also shared some charts claiming that the Ryzen 9 7950X can be up to 35% faster than the Ryzen 9 5950X in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and also claimed that the Ryzen 9 7950X is faster by 5% on average than Intel’s i9 12900K.

As for the release date for the Ryzen 7000 series, AMD stated that they will launch four new CPU models on September 27. These CPU models are Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 7950X.
