Gaming firm Embracer Group announced today that the acquisition of Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, and various IPs has been completed. The transaction was initially announced in May for a purchase price of $300 million. As part of the purchase, Embracer acquired the rights to the Deus Ex, Thief, and Legacy of Kain franchises, as well as more than 50 back catalog titles.
We are happy to announce the completion of the acquisition of @CrystalDynamics, @EidosMontreal, & soon to be renamed @SquareEnixMtl! The companies will form the 12th operative group under the leadership of Phil Rogers. A warm welcome to all new colleagues.https://t.co/9t5nHktjEo

Game publisher Embracer Group’s purchase of Eidos and Crystal Dynamics has been completed. And now they’re having one of the biggest sales that has ever been seen on the game catalog, more than 90% off almost every IP and existing title they’ve got with this deal. Since most of these games are no longer full price, this means you can get some incredible titles for just a few bucks.
This sale is happening at Square Enix‘s store, which does come off as odd considering the transfer to Embracer, but what’s probably happening here is that they’re trying to clear out whatever physical inventory they have left of these old games. at a pretty massive discount, and then start with a clean slate.
Below are some of the more notable games on sale:
- Guardians of the Galaxy for $3
- Marvel’s Avengers for $2
- Tomb Raider Definitive Edition for $2
- Rise of the Tomb Raider for $1
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider for $3
- Deus Ex Human Revolution for $1.50
- Deus Ex Mankind Divided for $2
Despite the merger, there’s not much need to be worried about the IPs as Crystal Dynamics continues to create Avengers content with PS Plus and Game Pass and is working on a new Tomb Raider game in Unreal Engine 5, and is also working to help Microsoft with Perfect Dark. It should also be stated that Eidos thinks it could do Cyberpunk “right” with a new Deus Ex game, and there are rumors that Embracer may try to negotiate a contract extension with Marvel to do more games in addition to Guardians Of The Galaxy and the Avengers.
