Elden Ring sales have reached 16.6 million in just a few months. Elden Ring managed to sell 13.4 million copies in its first five weeks. That lasted until the end of March. However, Bandai Namco’s latest financial report revealed that the publisher has now sold 16.6 million copies of the game between then and the end of June 2022, adding 3.2 million in the quarter.
The number, which is from April 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022, shows a pretty steep decline in the game’s sales. However, this is quite normal for games, as most of a game’s sales occur during the first couple weeks of release. When you take into account that 13 million people bought the game initially at launch, this means a vast majority of the gaming market was playing only Elden Ring during the first few weeks of launch.
It should be noted that while not as strong as the initial few weeks, the additional 3.2 million is nothing to scoff at either. That’s still a pretty impressive number and suggests that Elden Ring may eventually surpass the lifetime sales of the Dark Souls franchise, which could be sped up due to the release of a DLC. The lifetime sales of the Dark Souls franchise currently are 27 million sales.
At this time, it seems likely that the Elden Ring will cross 20 million sales by the end of the year and possibly cross the magical 27 million by the end of the financial year on March 31, 2022. It’s a crazy possibility and shows that the Elden Ring is possibly one of the biggest hits of recent years. And we expect the game to easily make it into the top 50 best-selling games of all time.
The game is still being played and streamed on Twitch to this day, players keep finding new stuff to talk about in From Software’s latest entry in the Souls franchise.
