Logitech and Tencent partnership has been announced. Just recently, we have gotten the news that Logitech and Tencent will be teaming up and creating a new handheld that will be focused on cloud gaming. The cloud gaming handheld has been stated to support many different cloud gaming services.

Tencent’s software expertise and Logitech’s specialization in hardware are sure going to make for a great team-up. Both companies have also announced that they will be working with Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. This means that players will be able to access the latest games even when they’re not near their console or PC. Logitech said in a statement:

Logitech G and Tencent Games share a mutual vision of the future of gaming and are committed to ensuring the quality of experience comes together seamlessly to deliver on the exciting promise of gaming from the cloud.

How cloud gaming works is that it utilizes data center serves. These remote data center servers render video games, which are then streamed to the players. This means that there’s no need to install these games at all on their PC and consoles, and players can play these games on their devices.

General manager of Tencent Games Smart Solution Innovation Lab, Daniel Wu, said that the partnership between the two companies presents an opportunity for them to “push the frontiers of gaming devices”. As to why Tencent chose Logitech, Daniel Wu stated that Logitech’s experience with hardware making, such as gaming gear and accessories, made them a great choice.

Tencent Games are one of the biggest companies in China‘s gaming market. The company has made the effort to expand significantly in the past few months. It has invested a lot into many western game studios, such as RiffRaff Games, Tequila Works, Inflexion Games, and 1C Entertainment.

While the Tencent Games and Logitech announcement is exciting, the announcement is coming after the news of Chinese officials trying to implement new regulations in the country regarding gaming. These regulations will affect both how Chinese players engage with video games, and restrict both video game playtime and the spending of money on video games.
