What Is Spidersaurs?
Spidersaurs has been revealed to be a run-and-gun shooter which takes inspiration from both retro video games and Saturday morning 90’s cartoons. Spidersaurs focuses on a world in which a conglomerate has developed “spidersaurs”, which are spider and dinosaur hybrids, as a revolutionary food supply. However, things go very wrong when one day, the spidersaurs rebel against their creators. So it’s up to the protagonists, a police trainee, and a guitarist, who volunteer to stop them.
Victoria joined InGest Corp's food-tester program to help earn money for her band. But now that the Spidersaurs are loose, she uses her weaponized guitar – the Thrashburn Perilaxe – to protect mankind's future! It has also been announced that the game will feature co-op multiplayer. This is only logical as seeing the game features two playable protagonists. So players who want to have a fun game to play with a friend of theirs should keep their eyes on Spidersaurs.
The gameplay of Spidersaurs is nothing new for retro gaming enthusiasts. The game has been described as a hybrid between the run-and-gun genre and platformers. Players will step into the deadly world of spidersaurs that spans laboratories and jungles to defeat their enemies. In the game, the players also have access to special superpowers. As the game progresses and the player kills more bosses, they, in turn, get stronger abilities. As for the platforming sections, the game will feature stages that will be able to scroll both horizontally and vertically, it will also feature some special stages that are auto-scrolling.
The timing is interesting too, however, as just recently WayForward has announced RWBY: Arrowfell which is being developed in collaboration with Arc System games. It will be interesting to see how the two games fare against one another, as RWBY: Arrowfell releases this fall.
Spidersaurs launches on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on July 14th.
