Striking Distance, the developers of The Callisto Protocol, and AMD have maintained a good relationship for a while now, so the news of an official partnership isn’t all that surprising. AMD stated in their announcement that they will “power” the development of The Callisto Protocol. A while back we got the information that the game will support features such as Fidelity FX Super Resolution 2.0 (FSR 2.0). This is AMD technology, and the news of a partnership may mean that The Callisto Protocol will not be supporting NVIDIA’s DLSS and DLAA technology. In a statement by AMD, they stated:

This announcement may mean that NVIDIA tech like DLSS and DLAA will never come to The Callisto Protocol, however, this may not be the case. Other titles in the past, like Horizon Zero Dawn, added DLSS support in a patch 4 months after the game launched on PC, and that game was also AMD-sponsored. While it does seem likely that The Callisto Protocol may never receive Nvidia’s DLSS and DLAA support, it doesn’t mean that there’s zero chance of it happening, so let’s be hopeful.
If you don’t know what The Callisto Protocol is, it’s an upcoming horror game developed by Striking Distance. The game is set on Jupiter’s dead moon, Callisto, and takes place in the year 2320. Players will take on the role of Jacob Lee, who is an inmate at the Black Iron Prison facility on Callisto. When something on the moon goes wrong, Jacob will have to face horrifying creatures and uncover a mystery.
